You don’t have to travel far from home this fall to entertain the kids and have some family fun! Whether you’re looking to support local businesses by buying organic pumpkins, apples, and berries or want to teach your kids about organic foods, there are great spots near London, Ontario that the whole family can enjoy.
Apple Land Station
Apple Land is a wonderful fall family destination, located about 20 minutes outside of London in Dorchester. Visit the farm seven days a week for apple picking, pumpkin picking, and a train ride tour of the farm. Their friendly staff will teach your kids the correct way to pick apples, point you to the variety of apples you like, plus pick you up on the train so you don’t have to carry your heavy basket of apples! Their fresh, organic apples are perfect to create your own healthy fall desserts at home, like Apple Flaxseed Muffins, Apple Berry Crisp, or Paleo Apple Cinnamon Cake. Your little ones can also enjoy some fresh-pressed apple cider, meet barnyard animals, explore the corn maze, and play on the sand mountain.

Fanshawe Pioneer Village
Enjoy one of the many family-friendly events happening this fall at the Fanshawe Pioneer Village in addition to learning about the local rural communities of London, Ontario. Enjoy the fall weather on a scenic stroll through the village, sample their apple cider, and your kids will learn how families preserved fresh fruit and vegetables to make them last through the long winter. At the on-site cafe, the village is also hosting Thanksgiving lunches and dinners with fresh homemade soup, roast turkey, root veggies, and more. At the end of October, the Village hosts its annual haunted hayrides for Halloween, great for date night or for families with kids over 14.

Kustermans
Just outside of London, Ontario in Mount Brydges, Kustermans Berry Farm is fun for the whole family! Their Fall Festival is already on until the end of October, featuring their famous corn maze, train ride, and pumpkin patch. Pick a few pumpkins for your kids to carve and for yourself to bake healthy homemade pumpkin desserts at home! Their on-site market features take-home treats like homemade Kustermans Berry Farms Jams, honey, and baked goods. In the evenings this October, the farm also hosts Halloween-themed “After Dark” activities!
